This particular shot shows the Gold Medal winning Boris Mann, who was  part of the winning Czech Republic team at the tournament. The tournament was the first time Boris had ever played floorball and he took to it like a natural!

The Czech team had an interesting mix of players including ultimately the tournament MVP, a Canadian International and the Golden Fossil. In the final they were up against the MVP from the 2007 Canada Cup plus one of the top players in the World.

All five teams in the competition had a healthy mix of  experienced players, stars and new players. It made the whole tournament super competitive and very enjoyable.

Kris Krug generously joined us at last weekend’s tournament and took a whole set of amazing photos. Below is just a selection from Golden Fossil’s favourites.

In the shot you are Vancouver Waveriders, Team Canada players, players from Switzerland and Sweden, Canada, UK and Iceland, boys and girls, old and young, very experienced players and complete beginners!

From the very beginning of Floorball in BC well over a year ago, we have had a succession of International players come to the province. Christian and Andreas are the latest and bring a wealth of floorball knowledge and experience to our drop-in sessions. Thanks Guys! We enjoy having you join us in Vancouver and share your enthusiasm for the Sport.  Long may it continue …

The Official Photographer, Eric Schoenfeld, at the Canada Cup has put his photos up on his website. You can view them on his site by clicking here. They are stored under the events section and contain all the games played at the Humber College Venue including two WaveRiders games and the two games between Team Canada and Team USA. The photos are great, the BC Floorball Federation is in the process of pulling together images from the tournament and hope to share some of them on this site.

Last night there was a good turn out for our extra session of Floorball before the season kicks off next week. The Fossil (right) and Michael played played goalie in a hard fought and very competitive game.
